Mammography

Mammography is a low-dose X-ray examination technique for the breast. It offers advantages such as simplicity, ease of use, non-invasiveness, low cost, repeatability, and diagnostic accuracy. It can detect lumps that cannot be felt by a doctor, diagnose early breast cancer, and localize, characterize, and monitor breast lesions. The combination of mammography and breast ultrasound is a commonly used breast examination method internationally. Interpretation of BI-RADS classification in mammography reports: Category 0: Requires additional imaging evaluation. Category 1: Negative. Category 2: Benign finding. Category 3: Probably benign finding, short-interval follow-up suggested. Category 4: Suspicious abnormality, biopsy recommended. Category 4A: Low suspicion for malignancy. Category 4B: Moderate suspicion for malignancy. Category 4C: High suspicion for malignancy but not definite. Category 5: Highly suggestive of malignancy. Category 6: Known biopsy-proven malignancy.
