Ureteral injury

Ureteral injury refers to a disease caused by damage to the structure of the ureter due to various reasons. It is relatively rare, ranking last among urinary system traumas. The ureter is protected by surrounding structures and is not easily damaged. Once damaged, the clinical harm is significant. Iatrogenic injury is the most common type of ureteral injury. Patients mainly present with clinical symptoms such as hematuria, urine leakage, lumbar and abdominal mass and pain, oliguria, or anuria.
