Based on etiology, they can be classified into neoplastic and non-neoplastic pancreatic cysts. Non-neoplastic pancreatic cysts can be further divided into true pancreatic cysts and pancreatic pseudocysts, with pseudocysts being more common.
This condition is often discovered incidentally. The incidence of pancreatic cysts in asymptomatic individuals ranges from approximately 2.4% to 13.5%, with the incidence increasing with age.
