Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy

The interventricular septum is located between the left and right ventricles. Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy refers to a condition where the patient's interventricular septum is highly thickened and protrudes into the left ventricular cavity, obstructing the left ventricular outflow tract during cardiac contraction, thereby causing a series of symptoms. The prevalence of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy in China is 0.04% to 0.4%, and it is the leading cause of sudden death in adolescents and athletes. Males are more susceptible to the disease than females, but females tend to develop symptoms earlier.
