Anal fistula

Anal fistula, short for anorectal fistula, is a chronic, infectious tract connecting the anal canal or rectum to the perianal skin. It is a sequela of ruptured or incised anorectal abscesses. The main symptoms of anal fistula include recurrent discharge from the fistula opening, often accompanied by perianal wetness and itching. Some patients may also experience pain.
