Internal hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids are soft masses formed by the expansion and varicosity of the submucosal vascular plexus in the distal rectum, above the dentate line of the anal canal. They are essentially varicose venous plexuses. This condition can occur at all ages, with a slightly higher incidence in females than males. The main symptoms include hematochezia, prolapse of hemorrhoidal tissue from the anus, pain caused by incarceration or thrombosis, mucus discharge, and itching.
