Detailed description
Arteriosclerosis obliterans is a localized manifestation of systemic atherosclerosis in the limbs. It is a degenerative and proliferative change in the intima and media of systemic arteries, resulting in thickening, hardening, tortuosity, and loss of elasticity of the arterial wall. Secondary thrombosis leads to narrowing or even obstruction of the arterial lumen, causing corresponding ischemic symptoms in the limbs.
