Acute lymphadenitis often results from other pyogenic infection foci, where pyogenic bacteria invade lymph nodes via lymphatic vessels, or local infection spreads to lymph nodes, leading to a suppurative infectious disease of the lymph nodes.
The main symptoms include enlarged and painful lymph nodes.
Acute cervical lymphadenitis is common in children. Acute mesenteric lymphadenitis is more prevalent in children under 7 years of age.
