Vulvar pruritus

Vulvar itching is a common symptom among women, characterized by an unpleasant sensation in the vulvar area that provokes a desire to scratch. It frequently occurs in the clitoris and labia minora, and can extend to the labia majora, perineum, and perianal region. Vulvar itching typically occurs in paroxysmal episodes, but can also be continuous, often worsening at night. When severe, it can cause restlessness and insomnia, thereby affecting daily life and work. After scratching, local vulvar skin may show scratch marks, or even excoriations and bleeding.
