Bartholin's cyst

The Bartholin's glands are part of the female external genitalia, located on either side of the vaginal opening, posterior to the vestibular bulbs. Bartholin's cyst, also known as Bartholin's gland cyst, is formed when the opening of the Bartholin's gland duct becomes obstructed due to chronic inflammation, congenital duct stenosis, injury, or other causes, leading to the accumulation of secretions within the gland lumen. Small cysts are often asymptomatic, while larger cysts primarily manifest as a sensation of vulvar heaviness. Secondary infection of the cyst can lead to the formation of a Bartholin's gland abscess.
