Puerperal infection

Puerperium refers to the period from the expulsion of the placenta until the mother's body, excluding the breasts, returns to its normal non-pregnant state, usually lasting 6 weeks. Puerperal infection is a local or systemic infection caused by pathogenic invasion of the reproductive tract during childbirth and puerperium, with an incidence of about 6%. It is mainly characterized by fever, pain, and abnormal lochia.
