Hypercholesterolemia

Hypercholesterolemia, also known as high cholesterol, is a condition characterized by elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood plasma. It is a type of hyperlipidemia. Cholesterol is a lipid that includes low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (commonly known as "bad" cholesterol) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (commonly known as "good" cholesterol). High cholesterol levels increase the risk of heart attacks (such as angina and myocardial infarction) and strokes.
