Dystocia

Dystocia generally refers to situations during labor where certain conditions, such as fetal problems, or maternal pelvic stenosis, abnormal uterine or vaginal structure, or weak or abnormal uterine contractions, make fetal delivery difficult, requiring assisted delivery or cesarean section to end the labor. Common clinical manifestations include premature rupture of membranes, uterine inertia, prolonged labor, and abnormal fetal presentation.
