Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), also known as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, is a common connective tissue disease in children. It is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of multiple symmetrical joints, accompanied by systemic involvement of various organs. It is also a common cause of disability in children.
It affects children under 16 years of age, often presenting as unexplained pain and swelling that persists for more than 6 weeks.
