Childhood nephrotic syndrome

Childhood nephrotic syndrome refers to a syndrome in children under 14 years old, characterized by massive proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, hyperlipidemia, and varying degrees of edema, due to increased permeability of the glomerular filtration membrane to plasma proteins. It is more common in preschool children, with boys being more affected than girls. The main manifestations include edema, malnutrition, and proteinuria.
