Delayed puberty is an abnormality in pubertal development, characterized by the delayed appearance of sexual characteristics compared to peers. It is defined as the complete absence of sexual characteristics in girls after 13 years of age or in boys after 14 years of age, or the absence of menarche in girls by 18 years of age.
Delayed puberty also includes cases where pubertal sexual characteristics begin to appear but development is slow or stagnant.
