Neonatal hemorrhagic disease

Neonatal hemorrhagic disease, also known as vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB) of the newborn, is a bleeding disorder in neonates caused by vitamin K deficiency. Vitamin K, also known as the coagulation vitamin, is crucial for the formation of prothrombin. A deficiency in vitamin K leads to impaired coagulation function, resulting in hemorrhagic disease. With advancements in medical care, the incidence of this disease has significantly decreased in recent years. However, cases can still be observed in some remote areas.
