Detailed description
Prickly heat, also known as miliaria, is also referred to as heat rash or sweat rash. It is a common transient skin condition in summer, caused by hot and humid weather, excessive sweating, and impaired sweat excretion. The sweat ducts become blocked by keratin, leading to sweat extravasation that infiltrates and irritates the surrounding tissues, resulting in papules, papulovesicles, and vesicles at the sweat pores. Prickly heat generally resolves spontaneously after environmental ventilation and cooling.
