Keratosis pilaris

Keratosis pilaris, commonly known as "chicken skin," is a common follicular keratotic disorder characterized by keratotic follicular papules with varying degrees of perifollicular erythema. It commonly affects the extensor surfaces of the upper arms and thighs, as well as the buttocks. In severe cases, it can also appear on the face, scapulae, forearms, and lower legs, with occasional generalized distribution. This condition affects nearly 50% of adolescents and about 40% of adults, with a higher prevalence in females than males. The incidence is highest during childhood and adolescence.
