Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome

Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS), formerly known as exfoliative dermatitis of the newborn, staphylococcal toxic epidermal necrolysis, bacterial toxic epidermal necrolysis, and Ritter's disease. This disease is a severe, acute, generalized exfoliative impetigo that occurs in newborns, characterized by widespread erythema, followed by flaccid, scald-like bullae and extensive epidermal exfoliation.
