Detailed description
Acute otitis media is an acute inflammation of the middle ear, often with a sudden onset within 48 hours. It can follow a common cold and may be accompanied by middle ear effusion. Depending on whether there is pus in the middle ear, it can be divided into acute non-suppurative otitis media and acute suppurative otitis media.
Children are more susceptible to acute otitis media due to their lower immunity and the short, flat, and wide characteristics of their Eustachian tubes.
