Elongated uvula

Elongated uvula is caused by developmental abnormalities or chronic inflammatory stimulation of the sinuses, nasopharynx, oropharynx, and tonsils, leading to inflammation of the uvula, degeneration of its muscle tissue, and downward extension of mucosal edema, resulting in thinning and lengthening of the uvula. This condition is clinically rare and can occur at all ages, with a higher incidence in males than in females. The main symptoms are often pharyngeal discomfort or foreign body sensation, and frequently accompanied by nausea and vomiting, which are more pronounced during pharyngeal examination and eating.
