Branchial cleft cyst

Branchial cleft cyst is a type of branchial cleft anomaly, an embryonic developmental malformation occurring on the lateral aspect of the face and neck. According to the origin of the branchial cleft, it can be divided into first branchial cleft cyst, second branchial cleft cyst, and third and fourth branchial cleft cysts. This disease is common in people aged 20-50, with those originating from the second branchial cleft being the most common. Approximately 20% of pediatric neck masses are branchial cleft cysts. The main symptom is a mass on the lateral aspect of the face and neck, sometimes with a draining fistula.
