Osteoid osteoma is a benign osteogenic tumor composed of osteogenic connective tissue and osteoid tissue, hence the name osteoid osteoma.
This disease is common in adolescents, with a higher incidence in males. It is usually solitary and often occurs in long tubular bones, with 50% to 60% of cases found in the femur and tibia. A small number of cases occur in other bones throughout the body.
The common symptom is progressively worsening pain.
