Spinal tuberculosis is an infection of the vertebrae (spinal bones) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which spreads to the vertebrae through the bloodstream. Thoracic and lumbar spine tuberculosis are the most common, while cervical spine tuberculosis is relatively rare.
This disease can be divided into adult and pediatric types. Adult type mainly presents with pain, low-grade fever, fatigue, and weight loss. Children often exhibit crying at night and irritability.
