Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy

The ligamentum flavum, in human anatomy, is a tissue structure that maintains spinal stability. It is located within the spinal canal, is elastic, and exists in segments. This disease is characterized by the ossification of the ligamentum flavum (i.e., its transformation into a bone-like structure), leading to its thickening and hardening. It commonly affects elderly individuals and often presents as lower back pain, which may be relieved or disappear after rest.
