Compartment syndrome

The muscles of the limbs are surrounded and divided by the surrounding muscle compartments, interosseous membranes, and bones, forming fascial compartments. When a limb is compressed, the pressure within the fascial compartment increases, damaging the blood supply to the muscles and nerves within the compartment, leading to a series of symptoms and signs known as compartment syndrome. It is more common in males, with pain and limited mobility as the main clinical manifestations.
