De Quervain's tenosynovitis, predominantly a stenosing tenosynovitis, is a chronic aseptic inflammation of the tendon sheath caused by repetitive friction or injury to the tendons of the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis as they pass through the radial styloid process.
Patients are typically women aged 30-50, presenting with pain and discomfort on the radial side of the wrist (thumb side) and at the base of the thumb.
