Detailed description
Diabetic retinopathy is one of the common chronic complications of diabetes, referring to a series of typical lesions caused by microvascular damage to the retina due to diabetes. It is a chronic progressive disease that affects vision and can even lead to blindness.
Most cases of diabetic retinopathy have no symptoms before they begin to affect vision. By the time vision is noticeably affected, the condition is usually already severe.
