Amblyopia in children is a decrease in vision caused by abnormal early visual development, primarily occurring in one eye, but can also affect both eyes. The main symptoms are best corrected visual acuity in one or both eyes being lower than the corresponding age-appropriate vision, or a difference of 2 lines or more between the visual acuities of the two eyes.
