Vitreopathy

The vitreous humor is a transparent, gel-like tissue composed of 99% water, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. It is an important component of the refractive media within the eye. Vitreous disease refers to pathological changes such as degeneration, hemorrhage, and exudation of the vitreous humor due to lesions in surrounding tissues. It manifests as vitreous opacities, liquefaction, and the formation and contraction of fibrous membranes. The main symptoms include floaters, dark spots in the field of vision, and flashes of light.
