Eyelid diseases

The eyelid, commonly known as the "eyelid skin," is the skin tissue near the edge of the eyeball, divided into the upper and lower eyelids. The eyelids cover the surface of the eyeball and play an important protective role. Eyelid diseases generally refer to a collective term for various eyelid lesions caused by different reasons. According to the etiology, they can usually be divided into the following categories: Eyelid inflammation: Including hordeolum, chalazion, blepharitis, viral blepharitis, contact blepharitis, etc. Typically presents as localized swelling, pain, and warmth of the eyelid. Eyelid tumors: Such as eyelid hemangioma, pigmented nevus, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, etc. Manifests as abnormal growth of masses on the eyelid. Eyelid position, function, and congenital abnormalities: Including trichiasis, entropion, ectropion, lagophthalmos, ptosis, epicanthus, etc.
