Trachoma

Trachoma is a chronic infectious conjunctivitis and keratitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, affecting both eyes. It is a preventable blinding eye disease worldwide. This disease is common in children and adolescents. Symptoms in the acute phase include red eyes, photophobia, tearing, foreign body sensation, and mucous or mucopurulent discharge; in the chronic phase, there may be itching, foreign body sensation, dryness, and burning sensation, with a milder degree of discomfort.
