The vitreous humor is an excellent growth medium for bacteria and other microorganisms. When bacteria or other microorganisms enter the vitreous, it can lead to vitritis, also known as endophthalmitis. Inflammatory exudates and white blood cells may appear in the vitreous.
Generally, based on the etiology, it can be divided into two categories: endogenous and exogenous, with exogenous being more common.
