Band keratopathy is a corneal disease caused by calcium deposition under the corneal epithelium. The lesion develops slowly and is mostly unilateral.
In the early stages, corneal opacity is mild and not easily visible to the naked eye; subsequently, calcific grayish-white or white opaque spots appear; vision can significantly decline in the late stages.
