Ectropion is an abnormal condition in which the eyelid margin turns outward and away from the eyeball. Mild cases only show the eyelid margin separating from the eyeball; severe cases present with exposed palpebral conjunctiva and even incomplete eyelid closure.
The main symptom is epiphora. Patients with corneal complications may experience pain, photophobia, tearing, and decreased vision.
