Choroidal hemangioma

Choroidal hemangioma is a benign vascular malformation that occurs in the choroid, a thin layer in the eye located between the retina and the sclera. The main symptoms of this disease include blurred vision, visual field defects, and metamorphopsia. Clinically and pathologically, choroidal hemangiomas are divided into two types: circumscribed and diffuse. Circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas mostly occur in the posterior pole and have clear boundaries. Diffuse choroidal hemangiomas have no clear boundaries, often extend from the ora serrata to the posterior pole, and are usually associated with encephalofacial angiomatosis (Sturge-Weber syndrome).
