Congenital glaucoma

Congenital glaucoma is an eye disease characterized by elevated intraocular pressure due to abnormal development of the anterior chamber angle or residual embryonic tissue during fetal development. It is classified into infantile glaucoma, juvenile glaucoma, and congenital glaucoma associated with other congenital anomalies. Infantile glaucoma occurs in the neonatal or infantile period. 50% of affected children present at birth, and 80% are diagnosed within the first year of life. 65% of infantile glaucoma cases are male, and 70% are bilateral. Juvenile glaucoma develops after 3 years of age, or even in early adulthood (30s or 40s).
