Detailed description
Gingival hyperplasia, also known as gingival overgrowth, refers to an increase in the volume of gingival tissue due to an increase in the cellular components of the gingiva. It can be observed in infectious diseases of the gingival tissue caused by dental plaque biofilm, as well as in non-inflammatory changes caused by factors other than local irritation.
It is common in adolescents during puberty, pregnant women, and individuals who have been taking drugs such as nifedipine, cyclosporine, and phenytoin sodium for a long time.
