Temporomandibular joint contracture refers to a condition where the temporomandibular joint is damaged, leading to scar formation and shortening of the surrounding ligaments and joint capsule. This prevents the joint from fully extending, resulting in limited mouth opening.
The main symptom is varying degrees of limited mouth opening, or complete difficulty in opening the mouth.
