It commonly occurs on the lower lip, often at the vermilion border mucosa between the middle and outer one-third of the lower lip. Early signs include a herpes-like crusted mass or localized mucosal thickening, followed by the appearance of a crater-like ulcer or a cauliflower-like mass.
