Odontogenic cysts of the jaw are cysts that develop from odontogenic tissue or the epithelium or epithelial remnants of teeth. A primordial cyst is an odontogenic cyst of the jaw that occurs early in the development of the enamel organ, before the formation of enamel and dentin.
It is common in children, and the main symptoms are swelling of the face and mandibular angle area, sometimes accompanied by tooth displacement and loosening.
