Geographic tongue

Geographic tongue is a non-infectious, superficial inflammatory condition of the tongue mucosa. It is also known as benign migratory glossitis, exfoliative glossitis, or wandering rash of the tongue. This condition is common in children, especially between 6 months and 3 years of age, but can also occur in young and middle-aged adults. Among adults, it is more prevalent in females than males. The main symptoms are annular, multifocal, or irregularly shaped erythematous lesions on the tongue, often with slightly raised yellow or white borders.
