Vocal cord leukoplakia

Vocal cord leukoplakia is a disease characterized by white patches resulting from keratinization and hyperkeratosis of the vocal cord mucosal epithelium. It is a general term for a broad category of indeterminate vocal cord or laryngeal diseases, which can be benign, precancerous, or malignant lesions. This disease is more common in men over 40 years old. The clinical manifestations of vocal cord leukoplakia are non-specific. The main symptom is hoarseness, and a small number of patients experience a foreign body sensation in the throat. Additionally, some patients may be asymptomatic and are only discovered during physical examinations or screenings.
