Sudden sensorineural hearing loss

Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), also known as idiopathic sudden deafness, refers to an unexplained, sudden decrease in hearing that occurs within 72 hours. The main clinical manifestation is unilateral hearing loss, which may be accompanied by tinnitus, aural fullness, vertigo, nausea, and vomiting. In recent years, the incidence of SSNHL in China has shown an upward trend. The male-to-female ratio is roughly equal, and the left ear is slightly more affected than the right ear.
