Paranasal sinus cancer

Sinus cancer refers to malignant tumors originating in the paranasal sinuses. The paranasal sinuses are a group of air-filled cavities within the skull surrounding the nasal cavity, including the maxillary, ethmoid, sphenoid, and frontal sinuses. Sinus cancer most commonly occurs in the maxillary sinus, followed by the ethmoid sinus, while occurrences in the sphenoid and frontal sinuses are rare. Early-stage localized tumors often present with no characteristic symptoms and are difficult to detect. Once symptoms appear, the disease is usually in its middle or late stages. Common symptoms include bloody nasal discharge, nasal obstruction, swelling of the nose and face, toothache, difficulty opening the mouth, proptosis, epiphora, and headache.
