Labyrinthitis, also known as inner ear inflammation, refers to an inflammatory lesion caused by bacterial or viral infections entering the bony or membranous labyrinth of the inner ear. It is a common complication of middle ear cholesteatoma and suppurative otitis media with mastoiditis, primarily characterized by paroxysmal rotational vertigo, nausea, vomiting, and hearing loss.
