Nasal septal hematoma and abscess

The nasal septum is a structure in the nose located between the left and right nasal cavities, composed of bone and cartilage. Septal hematoma and abscess include nasal septal hematoma and nasal septal abscess. Nasal septal hematoma refers to the accumulation of blood under the perichondrium or periosteum on one or both sides of the nasal septum. It is often caused by nasal trauma, and common symptoms include nasal pain and a feeling of pressure on the bridge of the nose. Nasal septal abscess refers to an infection occurring under the nasal septal mucosa, primarily developing from a nasal septal hematoma. Common symptoms include fever, redness, swelling, and tenderness of the nasal bridge and tip.
