Detailed description
Barotrauma of the ear refers to a feeling of blockage or pain in the ear when there is a rapid change in air pressure. It often occurs when flying, riding an elevator, or driving in mountainous areas. If ear barotrauma occurs during diving, it is also known as "ear squeeze."
Mild ear barotrauma can cause slight ear pain and a feeling of ear blockage, while severe cases may lead to intense ear pain, dizziness, eardrum rupture, and hearing loss.
