Detailed description
Perichondritis of the auricle is an infection with pus formation between the cartilage and perichondrium, often occurring after trauma to the auricular cartilage.
The main symptoms include severe ear pain, redness, swelling, tenderness to the touch, and a fluctuating sensation upon palpation if an abscess forms. The abscess may even rupture. Severe cartilage destruction in later stages can lead to ear deformity.
